For everyone
Accessibility statement
This website is built so that as many people as possible can use it comfortably.
Our commitment
The Royal Oak Scopwick wants this website to be usable by everyone, whatever technology they browse with. The site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we’ve done
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, including the mobile menu, with a visible focus indicator throughout and a “skip to content” link on every page.
- Text colours are checked against WCAG contrast requirements on both the cream and navy backgrounds.
- Pages use semantic HTML (proper headings, landmarks, lists and labels) so screen readers can navigate by structure.
- Menus are published as real text, not photographs of the printed menus, so they can be read aloud, searched and resized.
- Animations are subtle and are switched off automatically for visitors whose devices ask for reduced motion.
- Images carry descriptive alternative text, and decorative flourishes are hidden from assistive technology.
- Nothing on the site auto-plays, flashes or moves on a loop.
Known limitations
Online bookings are handled by Dojo on their own platform, which opens in a new tab. We don’t control the accessibility of that service. If you find it difficult to use, please ring us instead and we will book your table over the phone.
Tell us if something isn’t working
If any part of this website is hard to use, we would genuinely like to know. Call us on 01526 320777 and tell whoever answers what went wrong. We’ll do our best to fix it and to help you with whatever you were trying to do.
This statement was prepared in July 2026 and is reviewed whenever the website changes significantly.
